Atlantic City’s stature as a visitor destination as well
as the community’s quality of life has been greatly
enhanced by the presence of the Convention Center and
historic Boardwalk Hall. Through their combined efforts
and teamwork, the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors
Authority, the New Jersey Sports and Exposition
Authority and SMG have put together an award winning
team that has made service and facility management a top
priority. Event management and counseling, marketing and
public relations assistance, advance hotel and
restaurant reservation services, shuttle services,
personalized registration services, familiarization
tours and spousal programs are offered to all clients.
Several prestigious building, industry and customer
awards have recognized the facilities’ architectural and
business achievements. Recent awards include the Prime
Site Award from Facilities and Destinations magazine
from 2000 through 2007. This award is based on the votes
of association meeting planners across the country. They
ranked their selections on quality of facility and
accommodations, professionalism of staff, attractiveness
of destination, and other features. Meeting News
magazine awarded a 2005, 2003, 2002 and 2000 Planners’
Choice Award in recognition of staff service, facility
location, design and quality of meeting and exhibit
space and food service.
Other awards include the 2001 Pinnacle Award from
Successful Meetings, the 1999 Award of Excellence from
Corporate & Incentive magazine, and the 1999 Gold
Service Award from Meetings & Conventions magazine.
These awards are determined by ballot by the magazine’s
readers who are convention, trade show and meeting
planners.
In 1999, the Atlantic City Convention Center was
nominated for the EACA Intrepid Award. The Intrepid is
awarded to the trade show individual, organization or
consortium that has demonstrated an outstanding capacity
for delivering superior customer service above and
beyond the customer’s expectations.
La Legion D’Honneur Du Voyage bestowed an additional
tribute in naming the Atlantic City Convention Center
the world’s best convention center based on facilities,
infrastructure, management and dedication to the ideals
of the Legion. Members of the Legion are comprised of
travel industry leaders in 31 countries that seek better
understanding among nations through tourism and to fight
against bias and prejudice in travel.
The Convention Center also participated successfully
with Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA)
in a highly regarded space and occupancy verification
program. Not only does PCMA greatly enhance a building’s
value, recognition and credibility as a major convention
facility, it is an invaluable tool for meeting planners.
