Atlantic City, NJ, September 23, 2005 - Haunted by visions of a huge selection of antiques and collectibles? Then head for the fall Atlantique City Holiday Megafair sponsored by Antique Trader magazine, where Halloween memorabilia will be highlighted, along with Moorcroft, Royal Doulton pottery and a world of antiques and collectibles.
The event - billed as the world's largest indoor show of its kind and featured on the 2006 Discover America wall calendar -- takes up residence at the Atlantic City Convention Center on Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16, 2005. In its 19th year, the fall Megafair will include 10 and a half acres of exhibitors from 41 states plus Canada, Great Britain, Europe and Asia.
This fall's show offers a number of noteworthy features:
- "The Halloween Queen,"TM Pamela E. Apkarian-Russell, along with exhibitors Karol Atkinson and Beth Snyder, will present a special Halloween exhibition. Apkarian-Russell operates the new Castle Halloween Museum in Bentwood, West Virginia, which houses approximately 15,000 spooky items produced over the past 200 years. Also participating in the special exhibit will be Claire Lavin. Lavin is a noted author, lecturer and writer who has collected vintage Halloween memorabilia since she was a young girl. She is the author of "Timeless Halloween Collectibles" and has appeared as a guest speaker on various radio and television shows.
- Moorcroft designer Sian Leeper will travel from England to join exhibitor Pascoe & Co. of Miami. Leeper has been designing Moorcroft limited-edition collectibles since 1999, and will demonstrate her artistry at the Pascoe booth. She will also sign Moorcroft pieces during the show, and Pascoe will sell a Moorcroft piece designed exclusively for Leeper's tour.
- Pascoe & Co. will also host a lecture on Royal Doulton and Moorcroft pottery by Louise Irvine on London. Irvine is a leading authority on British art pottery and has presented lectures at Sotheby's New York and the Boca Raton Art Museum, among other projects.
- Free appraisals by highly qualified experts will be provided on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
- Free delivery up to 200 miles is offered on furniture purchases, and storage and pickup areas for purchases are available.
Show hours are Saturday, October 15 from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.; Sunday, October 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $15.00 for Saturday; $10.00 for Sunday. A two-day discount ticket is $24.00 and includes early 9:00 a.m. admission on Saturday.
Paid parking with a free shuttle is available at both the Sandcastle Stadium on the Black Horse Pike and Trump Marina Hotel Casino. A free shuttle is also available from the Boardwalk near Boardwalk Hall.
